Holiday Bath Bombs DIY with a Free Printable!

Searching for the perfect neighbor gift?? HERE IT IS! The kids can help and you'll love the results! Bath bombs are such a beautiful gift you can give and they are easy and cheap! My friend Natashia with Canary Jane has even created a free printable for you to go along with it!! To see the recipe, troubleshooting tips and the printable click to read more!

When  my amazing friend Kaylee started hosting bath bomb classes I knew that was something I wanted her to do with my friends too! She came over and showed us how to make the cutest bath bombs as Christmas gifts and I could not be more thrilled with how it turned out!

She had all these cute Christmas molds plus the traditional ball mold. We had a lot of fun trying out all the different molds she had and making them different fragrances and colors! At the end of this post I'll share some fun combination ideas and some troubleshooting guidelines if your bombs aren't coming out the way you expected!

Kaylee was so kind to share her recipe with us!! I hope you make some for your friends and family and come back here and tell me about it!!

Recipe

Tools:
  • Silicone or metal ball molds (check out these here and here)
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spray bottle (with water)
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients:

1. Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix them all evenly with the whisk.
2. In a separate container, mix the liquid ingredients together. Note that in this step, the essential oils, fragrances and colors are added. This is an important step!
3. Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mix, one small spoon at a time.
4. When well mixed, you simply pack this mixture into a bath bomb mold and pack tightly, then let dry. Make sure to work quickly so as not to let the bath bomb mixture dry out. If it gets a little dry you can spritz it with some water (mix immediately or it will start to fizz!).

Here are some of the fragrances you could do and how they can help you!

A Relaxing bath: Lavender
Sooth Sore Muscles: the Ameo Muscle Mend blend is incredible! Or you could do Peppermint and Lavender
Detox and Uplifting: Any citrus oils like orange, lemon, grapefruit, and add some Frankincense to help with the detox!
Sensual: Ylang Ylang and Bergamot
Christmas!: Peppermint and Balsam Fir

Don't forget to use these FREE PRINTABLES from Canary Jane to add to your gift!

Having Issues?? Check out this list to help you along!!!

Troubleshooting 101

1. If it crumbles, either pack it with more OR it may need to be spritzed with water. 1-2 spritzes at a time and wisk quickly!

2. If it swells like rising yeast dough, you’ve added too much liquid. It can’t be fixed BUT just let it dry out. It’ll work just fine, but it won’t look pretty!

3. If you want white Bath Bombs, substitute the food color for either vanilla extract OR plain water.

4. The thicker the silicone, the easier it will be. If you happen to get thin silicone molds, they will still work but may require a bit of extra tender loving care. Pack it enough to stick together but not too much that the silicone mold starts to bulge.

5. With a sphere mold, press two sides together, don’t twist! Pop them out on a cushioned surface to be sure it dries without a flat bottom. Use a stack of paper towels or tissue paper for this. Or you can keep it in the bottom mold to dry with a perfect round bottom.
